Present a 1-2 minute memorized monologue that allows you to develop a character and show a variety of acting choices/tactics. The monologue may be comedic or dramatic and should come from a published work of theatre or monologue book. No original material, please. The monologue should not be verse or from classical works, such as Shakespeare or Moliere. The monologue should be age appropriate (close to your own age). Costumes and props should not be used.
Acting/Theatre applicants should also be prepared to explain their interest and background in drama. During the personal interview, the discussion will revolve around the student’s work, creativity, previous theatre experience, and ability to express themselves and communicate ideas.
Musical Theatre Audition Tips
The audition requirements for students who wish to audition into the Music Theatre Department at CCCEPA are:
- NOW OPEN TO 8TH GRADE STUDENTS!
- Prepare two, 16-32 bar song cuts that are contrasting in style, tempo, etc. from the American Musical Theatre canon. Students need to provide a tracked accompaniment for each song.

Technical Theatre Audition Tips
Technical Theatre applicants should present and explain a project that they have worked on. The project should be something the student has created. Examples of projects can be artwork, crafts, construction projects, music or sound production, video creation, or work from a staged production. Applicants should be prepared to explain how they created the work, the tools and materials they used, and their processes to achieve their results. If it is not possible to bring in the project for the presentation, detailed visual examples are acceptable.
Technical Theatre applicants should also be prepared to explain their interest and background in the technical aspects of theatre production. During the personal interview, the discussion will revolve around the student’s work, creativity, previous theatre experience, and ability to express and communicate ideas.
Vocal Music Audition Tips

The audition song MUST be memorized and MUST be accompanied. You may not sing a cappella. Accompaniment tracks must be on a phone, CD or mp3 player.
A Bluetooth speaker will be provided in the audition, or you may choose to bring your own device. Do not depend on Wi-Fi connectivity. Accompaniment tracks must not have lead vocals.
